Snapshot Report – Medical Records and Digital Maturity

This report analyses 2023/24 ERIC data on medical records spend across NHS acute trusts in England and compares it against Digital Maturity Assessment (DMA) scores and EPR adoption. Despite 94% of acute trusts having a live EPR, £230 million was spent on physical records. The analysis explores spending patterns, assesses correlation with digital maturity, and highlights where inefficiencies remain in records management.
